About Us

Veterans Emergency Technical Services is a disabled American veteran-owned business. Owner Jim Kniss is the principal technician. With over 28 years experience in the mapping, Geographical Information System (GIS), and infrared fields.

Jim was the GIS Analyst for the Ventura County Fire Protection District for over 15 years. During his tenure, in addition to developing the GIS department for the fire district, he was instrumental in developing the national incident mapping program using GIS.  He has received awards from Cal Fire, USFS and ESRI related to his GIS work.
